Everyone should consider signing
a Lasting Power of Attorney. This allows you to specify in advance
who you wish to make decisions for you should you ever be unable
to yourself. In this way you get to choose who makes the decisions
rather than a Court and also save a great deal of expense. Lasting
Powers of Attorney can relate to your financial affairs, your
personal welfare or both.
If you would like to create
a Lasting Power of Attorney we can discuss this with you and draft
the necessary documents. We can also advise on and apply, where
appropriate, to the Court of Protection to register a Lasting
Power of Attorney (or its predecessor Enduring Power of Attorney).
If you are an attorney under
a Lasting or an Enduring Power of Attorney we can advise you on
your duties and obligations. We can also help you with any applications
you may need to make to the Court of Protection.
If somebody becomes incapable
of managing their affairs without having a valid Lasting or Enduring
Power of Attorney someone needs to make an application to the
Court of Protection to be appointed as a deputy. We provide expert
assistance with these applications.
We also undertake the management
of clients' financial affairs and our clients regularly choose
our partners as attorneys for their professional expertise.
