History

Dakers Green Brett was formed in 1985, but has its roots in a firm that originally began serving businesses and private clients in the Medway Towns area at the beginning of the 20th century.

Today, dgb has a diverse client base, ranging from private companies to partnerships, unincorporated associations and individuals.

Most of our clients have come to us via recommendations and referrals; many have long-standing relationships with us, including a number of our business clients whose companies have literally grown up alongside us.

Join us

At dgb Solicitors, we are always looking to recruit good quality staff.

We look to attract lawyers with strong academic backgrounds, an enthusiasm to develop their own careers and the teams they work in, and a desire to help our clients achieve the best possible results.

We are always happy to consider applications from lawyers and support staff who want to work with us. Please complete our application form and email it to recruitment@dgblaw.co.uk.

Anyone coming to dgb will join a well-motivated, quality team, which aims to deliver all of our clients' needs quickly and efficiently. We expect commitment and hard-work from our lawyers and support staff, but in return we offer support, good quality instructions, and a healthy work-life balance in a friendly environment. We run a meritocracy, and lawyers who perform well can expect to progress promptly within the firm.

Training contracts

A training contract with dgb is both interesting and challenging.  We are always looking to recruit trainees who we hope will go on to qualify with us and remain part of the team for years to come.  Four of our current five equity partners trained with the firm, and we offer genuine partnership prospects for those who show they have the right qualities.

Since we usually take on only one or two trainees each year, they are given a high-level of training and responsibility from an early stage.  Indeed, trainees can expect to be running their own caseload (with suitable supervision) during the second year of their contract.  Our training contracts are demanding, but our aim is to produce the best solicitors possible, who are able to go on to have successful careers with us.

Our trainees undertake at least three seats during their contract, and will usually spend the last 6 months with the team they hope to qualify into.  We look to recruit one or two trainees most years, starting in either January or September.  We welcome applications at any time using our standard application form. Please tell us when you wish to start with us.

Work experience

We do run a work experience programme for those interested in a legal career, which runs during July and August each year.  Given the nature of the work we undertake, we do require applicants to be studying for ‘A' levels or the equivalent (with a commitment to take a law degree when completed), be undertaking their law degree, or to have completed those qualifications.

The scheme gives aspiring lawyers the chance to attend our offices for a placement (usually lasting one week), work alongside our partners and fee earners, become involved in live matters (often sitting in on client meetings when the opportunity arises), and getting a flavour of what it is like to work at a law firm.

If you wish to apply for a placement please send us your CV with a covering letter addressed to Human Resources (or e-mail them to recruitment@dgblaw.co.uk), and tell us what dates you are available. Your application should reach us by 30 April. If you are successful we will contact you during May.
