Even the most well-intentioned and reasonable employers can unwittingly find themselves embroiled in employment tribunal proceedings if they are not aware of all their obligations and (sometimes burdensome) responsibilities.
We advise employers on all employment laws, from preparing contracts of employment and workplace policies to exit strategies and severance terms for outgoing senior directors.
Also we advise on restructuring, redundancy procedures (including collective consultation where necessary) and disciplinary and dismissal issues. We also advise clients on the complex rules of the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations (TUPE) when businesses are bought or sold, which will often have a significant impact on whether the parties will continue with the transaction.
Our outlook is always commercial and always focuses on the client's best interests. When dealing with "problem" employees, we will give practical advice and look for cost-effective solutions where possible, but will also advise and represent clients in employment tribunal proceedings, if needed.
We deal with many unfair dismissals, redundancy and discrimination claims at the employment tribunals, and have conducted cases at the Employment Appeal Tribunal and Court of Appeal.
